318. Measurements

Teaser: In which the Priest proposes some scientific measurements for happiness, but not the ones you'd expect.

CHURCH INTERIOR Priest, Captain, Ranger

[FRAME 1]

Ranger: It's a simple question! Are they happier now, or not?

Captain: But we can't just ask. If I've learned one thing in the Guard, it's that people lie about things you'd never expect.

Priest: What has you both so worked up?

[FRAME 2]

Captain: Actually, you might be able to help, padre. We're trying to decide if it's better to help someone stop saying the same thing all the time, or leave them as they are.

Ranger: But we don't know how to tell how happy someone is.

[FRAME 3]

Priest: Ah, so you're trying to measure happiness?

Captain: Well, when you put it like that, it does sound kind of silly.

[FRAME 4]

Priest: Not at all! I consider myself a man of science, and finding ways to measure things is one of the foundations of science.

Priest: We can start with the basics: is a happy person heavier? Hotter? Do they have more blood?
