420. Reminder
Teaser: In which the reader gets a reminder about what was going on with Don, because it was almost two years ago.
CASTLE INTERIOR King, Queen, Guard, Chamberlain, Don
[FRAME 1]
Previously on The NPCs
[FRAME 2]
Don: Your Majesty, you have to do something! Monsters are overrunning the town!
King: Monsters? Where? Who said that?
Don: They're loose in the town! You have to send your guards out to deal with them.
[FRAME 3]
King: Well then, they must be disguised as people! Any one of you could be a monster!
[FRAME 4]
GUARDS LEADING DON AWAY
Don: Your Highness! There's a real monster! I've seen it!
King: I could tell right away, you know. Something about the way its skin sags, like it doesn't fit right.
Queen: Yes, dear.
[FRAME 5]
Don: So you're perfectly happy arresting innocent people on the orders of a madman?!
Guard: You says he's a madman, he says you's a monster. If we didn't work for him, maybe he's a madman. But we do, so you's a monster.
Guard 2: An' you'll be a quiet monster if you don't wanna be a bleedin' monster.
[FRAME 6]
Chamberlain: Sorry about that, I would've come sooner but the King made some proclamations, and it's important he sees me write them down.
Don: So I'm not really under arrest? Did I have to be marched down here then?
[FRAME 7]
Chamberlain: Look, I'd appreciate it if you don't spread any rumours about this... misunderstanding.
Don: You mean the King believing I'm a monster?
[FRAME 8]
CASTLE EXTERIOR
Chamberlain: Sorry about the guards, but if the King sees you again he might execute us both. I'm sure you understand.
Don: So they're actually for my protection?
Chamberlain: Sure.
