313. Happiness
Teaser: In which the Captain and the Ranger engage in a deep philosophical discussion of happiness, or at least as far as they are able.
DON'S HOUSE EXTERIOR Captain, Ranger
[FRAME 1]
Captain: How would we know if Terry is happier now than when he didn't have to worry about... you know, starvation and the impending end of the world and all that?
Ranger: I guess we could just ask him.
[FRAME 2]
Captain: But what do we compare it to? We can't go back and ask him how happy he was then, and even if we could he'd just say "I have to get back to the farm."
Ranger: He probably wasn't happy or unhappy, so like, neutral.
[FRAME 3]
Captain: What about you, how happy are you now?
Ranger: I mean I wouldn't say I'm thrilled all the time, but I guess I'm fairly happy, all things considered.
[FRAME 4]
Captain: And what about when you were out adventuring with the Hero? Were you more or less happy.
Ranger: That's tough. I knew what my purpose was then, and didn't really have to worry about anything. But I didn't get to decide anything, or talk to anyone.
Ranger: And I died pretty much every day, which wasn't great.
